Final Top 25 Coach Rankings: Edsall best ATS coach of all BCS Conferences; 6 from ACC

Randy Edsall's ATS stats since 2000: 73-46 ATS (61.35%), 30-18 as a favorite; 43-28 as a dog; 35-17 off a loss. He ranks among the top 10 in all ATS categories overall.
Over the last week, I’ve been ranking the best Against The Spread coaches in each of the six BCS Conferences. In case you haven’t been following along, here are the results by conference:
ACC: 1. Randy Edsall; 2. Tom O’Brien; 3. Paul Johnson
Big 10: 1. Kirk Ferentz; 2. Brady Hoke; 3. Bo Pelini
Big 12: 1. Bob Stoops; 2. Mack Brown; 3. Bill Snyder
Big East: 1. Skip Holtz; 2. Greg Schiano*; 3. Todd Graham
Pac-12: 1. Mike Riley; 2. Dennis Erickson; 3. Kyle Whittingham
SEC: 1. Bobby Petrino; 2. Steve Spurrier; 3. Nick Saban
*As you’ll see below, I had a change of heart on Schiano. He tumbled down the rankings despite my earlier declaration that he was the second-best ATS coach in the Big East.
By early August, I’m hoping to take these rankings and turn them into something more meaningful, sort of like a Sagarin Ratings for coaches. It won’t be something used to make bets on, of course, but rather it will be a tool used to identify potential advantages.
The acronym for my coach ratings will be PABO, but I need to make sure that I patent it prior to telling you what it stands for. (So don’t steal it, OK?)
